How to check your website's PHP version in 5 minutes
Option 1: inside WordPress
- Log in to your WordPress admin.
- Go to Tools, then Site Health, then the Info tab.
- Open the Server section. The PHP version is listed there.
Option 2: your hosting panel
Most hosts show the PHP version per site. In cPanel look for "Select PHP Version" or "MultiPHP Manager". Managed hosts such as Cloudways, SiteGround, Kinsta or WP Engine show it in each application's settings. Menu names vary, so search your host's help center for "PHP version" if you can't find it.
Option 3: ask your host
Send support this message: "Which PHP version does my site run, and does it include the October 21, 2026 fixes for CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619?"
Reading the answer
- 8.5.12 or newer, 8.4.27 or newer, 8.3.36 or newer, 8.2.35 or newer: patched.
- A lower number on those branches: ask for the update.
- 8.1, 8.0, 7.x or older: end of life. See what that means.
Before changing a major version, for example 8.1 to 8.3, back up the site and check that your theme and plugins support the new version.
